Stop Food Waste Day is about igniting change regarding the global food waste issue. The campaign does this by drawing attention to the problem, at the same time educating through engaging with society at all levels and sharing practical, creative and impactful ways we can all change our behaviour to minimise food waste.

COMBINE FOOD WASTE COLLECTION AND HOME COMPOSTING
Some food waste is unavoidable but that doesn’t mean it has to go into your general waste bin. To ensure we recycle as much of our food waste as possible, why not combine your local food waste collection service and home composting together.
Food waste collection service • Meat, fish and dairy products together with any cooked food can be put into your food waste collection bin, as home composting these products may attract unwanted visitors to your garden
Home composting • All fruit and vegetable peelings and tea bags can be composted at home
When you recycle your food waste using local waste collection, it’s sent to special processing plants and is transformed into low-carbon electricity helping to power homes and communities, or turned into compost, which farmers can use as fertiliser.

THE FORGOTTEN FROZEN MEAT
For all you meat lovers out there, meat often gets forgotten about in the back of the freezer, it’s perfect for those slow cook dishes.
Depending on the cut, uncooked meat can be stored for up to 6 months in the freezer.
